Alittle Different

Hello everyone! Can't believe this is my new post in the new year! Here's just a pic of me from last night!

Boy do I look different (in my opinion anyway) from like a year ago. I finally figured out a 'quick' way to do my natural hair that makes me love it every time, I learned how to shape my eyebrows to my liking and fill them in without looking crazy. Don't know what took so long, lol! I also bought a new lipstick from MAC. I think this will become a regular color that I wear. Not too dramatic and goes with pretty much everything. The boyfriend loves it and random people that I asked say it looks good on me. So yeah pretty happy! Think I'll make a before and after/how I made myself over video.

How To Wear A Turtleneck

Hi yall! Hope everyone had a super turkey day, mine was swell! Spent with the boyfriend's family and a few of my own family member's. So I have big news!

DAN AND I ARE MOVING IN TOGETHER!

Lol, I'm excited! We just had our one year anniversary and now this weekend we're moving into a lovely apt that we think is perfect for us with a great environment! I'm just overjoyed if yall can't tell! So that and other things have been preventing me from updating, but this weekend we move in and things should be better here on my blog. And speaking of updating, which makes me think about this weather that's only getting colder, how do you guys feel about turtlenecks? To me pulling off a turtleneck can be tricky. Some people say they can look drab or make you look old . . . . and I agree! But like everything it's all in how you wear it! That's why the few that I do own, I made sure they would not only serve to keep me warm, but also add some sort of pop to whatever I wear. Like in this pic from a few days ago . . .

I threw on a pink turleneck and just layered over it with a jacket almost the same color as my skinny jeans. And yall know I love pairing skinny jeans with boots (which my boyfriend just got for me, the walmart pair I had served me well) so I did just that and then added another layer with my pea coat in cobalt.

Bam! I look put together, 'young' and stylish. And I received lots of stares as people passed by me during the day and a few compliments.

So break out those turtlenecks and be creative!

Loving Fall

I'm such a sucker for the fall! I love this time of year! And although abit chilly it's perfect for hanging outside and snapping pics. Here's some from a little date the boyfriend and I went on last Sunday.

I just threw a tunic from H and M over a dress from The Limited. I've been finding alot of ways to take my pieces from the summer into the fall! Can't wait to show yall how I rock my turtlenecks. And I forgot I owned these boots which are from Michael Kors. they look good to be so old. I might get alot more wear out of them this year.

Happy Birthday To Dan

Technically Monday was my boyfriend's birthday, but we weren't able to celebrate it until last night. His mom made him a cake over the weekend and we went to Benihana for dinner! He loves the food there and it was my first time so it was an adventure.

Review

Hello! So it's been over a month since I chopped all my hair off (also known as the bc, big chop) and I'm doing ok. It took awhile to get used to my hair in it's natural unaltered state and although I'm not 100 percent in love I've accepted it. I just can't wait to gain some serious length! I think I'll be happy then. But I'm already noticing that I have some crazy shrinkage! Oh well.

So I've been using this to cowash (conditioner wash my hair) everyday since I've been working out regularly now (getting back buff yall):

My hair loves this stuff so much!

I haven't gone near these things since my bc:

I let my hair air dry and do as it wants. Why would I want to alter my hair with heat when I just gave up chemicals (aka my relaxer) . . . . nooooo. Cold turkey yall! Plus I don't want to mess up my curls. There is a possibility I'll straighten it in a few months when I'm due for a trim and I've already figured out how to go about protecting hair so no damage occurs.

I pretty much still look the same:

Just because I cut all my hair off and was afraid of looking like a boy doesn't mean I was going to run to MAC (I do love that store though) and get made up. My makeup is still minimal and my style hasn't really changed. I was wearing lots of color and stuff before so I guess that helps make my haircut look less boyish.

So that's the mini review of what's been going on. The boyfriend's birthday is today , but we're not celebrating till Wednesday and last week we went to an orchard and had a blast! I need to get to posting more pics! Bear with me yall and thanks for sticking around!

Standing Out

After work I headed to Ann Arbor for shopping with a friend. This is what I wore to work and for hanging out -

I paired this dress with leopard flats for a pop of print. The scarf was thrown on and tied into a bow which I loved more than I thought I would.

Together Abril and I received lots of stares, but we're both type's that would rather stand out than blend into a crowd.

Overall I was super happy with my outfit because . . . .
1) I love this dress (and I have it in another color!) It showed my figure and instantly put me into 'lady like' mode yet I still felt alittle sexy!
2) The teal dress looked great against my skin tone and went well with the animal print!

Change, New Loves, Rambling

Hi everyone! So I just wanted to throw out what is on my mind really fast.

I have come to totally embrace color, v-neck or scoop neck tops, corsets, skinny jeans, short(er) hair and fly aways (which will make for great layering!) Nothing has really changed with dresses or skirts - still love those!!! Recently I did a little purging of my closet after creating a new inspiration book with new/old pics and magazine cut outs. I guess I've just come to really realize that I want to look GREAT, not just GOOD or OKAY in everything that is in my closet. There are so many things I owned that I bought with the idea that I'll just make it work and now I look back and think who was I kidding, it's never going to work for me. So if something in my closet didn't fit into my new thinking I got rid of it. And I'm using that for shopping too! I went recently and although after sweeping the store I had well over 20 items in my hands after I analyzed each piece I had only 9 to take into the fitting room and 3 made it to check out.

I even made a list of go to outfits for myself so that even if I don't feel GREAT, whether it be to sickness or laziness, I will look like it. Now that I feel that I have my physical appearance down, still working out and trying to eat clean which is a battle, I can put over 100 percent into school! I really just want to figure out my career. Sick of this fog! And I've realized I let shopping and my thoughts on my style take over my life which isn't good. So now everything is in control and I just wanted to share that. My blog will still be going though, but if I become overwhelmed I'll take a break.

Haircut!

So my vacay is over and I had a blast with my boyfriend in Saugatuck! Will post pics the next couple days. Think I'll spread them out. And I decided to get a haircut yall!!!!

Might not seem dramatic to some, but to me it is. I've had hair over my ears for the longest and for some reason I was dreaded cutting around them. Shrugging my fear off I went ahead and did it and had the top taken up alittle. The back is still layered and short. She wanted to shave my sides, but there was no way that was happening.

Last Night's Party

More like Saturday night's party, but I like the way the title sounds. My boyfriend's sister had a party at her home so we stopped by for the free food and to chat her up. Her kiddos weren't around, but the dogs were and we had a blast playing with them.

Walk, walk, walk

Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day. We didn't do anything I had planned apart from hanging out downtown, but I'll just shrug that off. We ate out and walked, walked and walked some more. We even stopped at a festival on the way home and did a little more walking, lol. At the end of the day my feet were thanking me for wearing my wedges!

Due to the weather I kept my outfit simple with a dress. I removed the straps, wore a black braided bracelet and threw on some wedges to dress it down.

Yesterday I was pretty busy. I spent the whole day socializing and shopping with my buddies. My outfit turned out to be perfect for all the walking I ended up doing. And I'm still loving mixing prints.

I was able to squeeze a haircut in and a late night movie with the boyfriend after. We saw Super 8. I loved the kids in that movie! Not sure what's going on today. I did have alot of plans but the boyfriend is complaining so who knows.

Ekk! I've been so busy lately! Sorry about leaving the blog on the back burner yall! I did contact the winner for the giveaway though so thank you all for entering and your support! So since I recently (yesterday, lol) did a dress up and take pics with the boyfriend shoot I'm gonna post them here to share with you all.

I'm just the type of person that believes that you don't have to be engaged or married to take posed and candid shots with your loved one. So although this might seem like an engagement photo session, it isn't :) we just really love one another.

I just asked a friend to take my plain ole Nikon camera from my hands and capture the pics for us. We went to a local park. We stayed true to how we normally dress in these, me in a dress and him in stripes and dark denim. We did get haircuts the day before, but other than that nothing too done up. He wears a lot of blue and teal so we decided to wear blue for the pictures. It turned out to be a very cold and windy day, but we braved it since the sun was peeking out.

Dan is the best! I've already got the next photo session planned for next weekend :) So more pics coming soon!

Awhile back I received an email from eShakti asking me if I'd be interested in doing a review of one of their products. Now I have been asked in the past to do a review or a giveaway, but I turned a few companies down because they didn't have anything I was interested in. And I'm not about to jump on the bandwagon just because I see others doing it. I want my blog to be about things I love.

Luckily I love dresses! So I didn't have the same attitude with eShakti. As soon as their website loaded I was in heaven! Dress heaven!!!!! (They do have skirts, tops, coats, jackets and other goodies too :) The styles, colors, prints and they customize your order for only $7.50 extra!!!! I immediately fell in love with several dresses that I had to narrow down to one to review.

It took under two weeks to receive since I had it customized and was it worth the wait! It fits like a glove. I adore the violet blue color against my skin tone and the fabric (cotton) is nice. I love the shape and the branch like designs that are all over. The belt is a nice touch and I am fond of it removed as well. I had it altered from a scoop neck to a v neck and am pleased with how it turned out. Oh and there's pockets! I usually hate pockets on dresses, but you hardly notice these. Overall the dress is wonderful and the only negative thing I can say is that I wish I didn't have to pull it over my head. That is minor however.

I loved that dress so much that I ended up purchasing one soon after I received the one above.

I think I'm in love all over again. The boyfriend doesn't mind. He loves this one as well. The unique design is what caught my eye and you can't go wrong in black and white.

Another Mix

Happy Valentine's Day! I can't wait for work, school, work and then school again to be over with! Dan has some surprise's for me and I got a little crafty for him. I'm a card maker and scrapbooker, but haven't used my goodies in awhile. So I figured I'd make him some cards instead of buying them. I'll share those yall later.

Yesterday we hit a heat wave of 40 degrees! I was so thrilled and decided to walk out of the house without tights and put together an outfit outside my 30 for 30. I feel alittle bad, but I'm starting to lose it. I will have up some pics Tuesday catching up.

Soooo I based my outfit yesterday off of this Stella McCartney pic I found in my inspiration album. I put my own twist on it of course by adding a printed pencil skirt and cobalt blue flats for a pop of color.

What To Wear

I had fun putting these looks together. I love how you can create a different look by layering over a dress.

Outfit 1-
With this outfit I actually picked out the skirt first and then grabbed the dress because I liked the top. I wanted to see how many times I could use my pink J Crew cardigan so I threw it on. Brown tights looked blah so I switched into black. I then finished my look with cognac oxfords and my trusty brown belt.

Outfit 2-
This outfit is quite simple. I took a dress I thrifted and put the pink J Crew cardigan from the 1st outfit with it. I threw on some fun tights, ballet flats, and boom!

Outfit 3-
With this outfit I just had fun with mixing patterns. I need to put another skirt under this one to give it more fullness.

Don't forget to tell me which one you like the best! So far I'm leaning towards wearing 1 or 2 on Valentine's Day.

Wedding Dress Up And Hat Day

Happy Tuesday! Soooo glad it's almost over. I do have another 2 hour class to attend tonight in 20 minutes though! Ugh . . . I've been weighed down with accounting homework which lead to my blogging absence just so yall know.

Anyway here are the pics from Friday's thrift session. We didn't buy any of the dresses, because no one is getting married, but alot of fitting room play happened!

Twice A Day

After work yesterday I went thrifting with my boyfriend and one of my co-worker's. We had such a blast . . . especially when we noticed that two racks of wedding dresses were being rolled out! I'm a sucker for trying on any kind of dress, even if I'm not getting married yet. Dan didn't stick around for our wedding dress dress up session though. He made a beeline for the vinyl records.

Here are some pics of my 4th 30 for 30 outfit, I wore this in the a.m. If your new to my blog you should know I change my outfit twice a day between my a.m job, working out, school, p.m job and whatever my night activities are. I just don't always post my look. So I don't consider it cheating long as one of my outfits is put together from my 30 items.

Love It Or Hate It

Although today is a snow day for me (no school or work) I still decided to get dressed. Need to reach 30 outfits for the 30 for 30 challenge right! Plus I can't just walk around in pjs with the bf all day. He'd call me a slacker.

I think my outfit today has the 'you either love it or hate it' look to it. I hated it when I first put it together (wasn't sure about dress peaking out of the top of the shirt), but then I suddenly loved it. And the love ended up sticking. I was chomping at the bit to work with this dress. Maybe because I haven't worn it since it was purchased. It was meant for a wedding I ended up not attending.

Getting dressed for work today didn't take too long. I put together my 'plain jane' outfit first, but I was unhappy with the lack of color. I did a quick cardigan switch up and threw in some brown and bam! I was as pleased as punch with my look. My boyfriend said "You don't have to be freaking dripping in color to look nice." He's such a sweetie, thinks I look great in everything, but I left my second outfit on :)

Floral Print With Lace

Yesterday I spent 2 hours going through just about everything I own. My room was a total mess, but I had to make sure I wouldn't second guess my picks for the 30 for 30 winter remix. I tried to pick some items that haven't been worn before as well as some of my favorite items. I also tried to not pick all items that were 'safe'. So now I have all 30 of my items in one corner of my room as I begin packing up the rest of my wardrobe for my move. No going back!

Speaking of 'safe', I stepped out of my box a little with my outfit yesterday. I mixed lace and florals and loved it! I'm not really a fan of the skirt and boot mix on me, but I just didn't care yesterday.

Pretty In A Pink Blazer

I was in a 'creative mood' yesterday so I decided to find a way to wear my pretty pink blazer. This is probably one of my favorite thrifting finds! It's rare that I come across blazer's with a nice fit, color and great price. My boyfriend said that I couldn't get this blazer off of the mannequin that was modeling it quick enough. I'm very aggressive when I thrift, lol.

Building An Outfit

First off I can't believe I'm at 93 blog buddies! My mouth dropped when I saw it this morning! I was amazed when I hit 20 then later on 50. Huge hugs to you all who think my blog is worth reading! And I love when yall leave me feedback! It make take me awhile to get back to yall, but I will!

Alright so on to the outfit! It was a struggle getting dressed today. It was around 28 degrees, but I was sooooo tempted to reach for a pair of jeans. Instead I remembered coming across a few of my long lost J Crew sanur convertible dresses. They are really meant for the summer so I played around with layering two of them and the rest of my outfit fell into place.

Big Pics and Red Lips

Happy Sunday yall! I'm really happy since I figured out how to make my pics larger! Yay!!!! I was jealous of other blogs that you didn't have to double click on the pic to see the outfit more clearly. So I sat my butt down and did some research. Now I have big pics too!!!

So yesterday I was looking for a new lipstick and ended up playing around with shades of red. Not really a color for me and I then remembered that I had a 'red phase' in 2009. Here's a pic:

Nice huh? Lol. My phase lasted about a week and then I threw the tube away. I already have big lips and that color just made them pop too much. At least I gave it a try.

Is there anything that yall have tried that you then walked away from? I can add long skirts to my red lipstick. Lol. I love showing my legs.

Can yall tell I'm loving these tights! Good thing I purchased two pairs because I'm going to wear them out! These are definitely going to be seen in the 30 for 30 remix.

I Love A Challenge

I have decided to join Kendi @ kendieveryday for her 30 for 30 Remix. I'm quite excited and alittle nervous about limiting my wardrobe choices. But this is going to help greatly seeing that I have to move soon and only having one box of clothing that I have to pick from for a month will make my life easier.

Krispy Kreme

I finally am out of my fashion rut! My bf said it was nice to have me back. I was lacking inspiration for awhile and found myself 'blending in' with the jean crowd. Lol! But not anymore :)

Yesterday Dan and I tied a trip to Krispy Kreme in with our errands. It had been years since I had a doughnut from there so I was delighted to go (besides I did 40 mins of cardio and deserved one . . . ok I had two doughnuts.)

Here was my outfit for the day

I took a skirt and pulled it up to wear it as a dress. I added a belt, brown tights and cognac oxfords.

I added one of my favorite zip ups and boom!

Last night the boyfriend took me out. I decided to wear this leopard dress I recently thrifted. It was only $7! Crazy huh! I paired it with a sweater to keep off the cold.

Dating Dan

Lol! Here is the guy I'm dating! His name is Dan. Yesterday we worked out, went out to eat, walked around Ann Arbor before he went to work. We met up once he got outta work a few hours later and went to see Saw 3D. After that awesome movie we played Scrabble at Starbucks until 2:30 a.m. It was a long yet amazing day!

Gosh I feel like a little girl. Lol!

Fitness Blab and Halloween

Sorry for not posting yall! I've been having huge detox headaches these last two days around my normal posting time! I hope things are better tomorrow. I'm already noticing a difference in my body though and can waltz past the vending machine without drooling! Seriously just the smell of something naughty would cause my mouth to fill up with saliva within seconds, lol! I've been doing great sticking to my 6 meals, drinking over 1 gallon of h20 and I started adding green tea into the mix. Turns out that helps with my detox headaches.

Alright . . . so this post is somewhat fashion related I'll post my Halloween costumes from the last two years . I still can't figure out what I'll be this year. In previous year's Eric and I would celebrate our anniversary and we'd go to parties and out to dinner. So this is my 1st year being single and I have not a clue to what I'll be doing.

2008

I tried to be creative that year and bought some scarves covered with coins to play around with for an outfit. I used one for my top which had a ton of safety pins on it to keep it closed, lol! For my bottom I wrapped two scarves around a thrifted white skirt. My guy (the zombie) and friends liked the result.

2009

Saw this outfit at some Halloween shop and had to have it. The sailor hat was too cute!

I even dressed up our puppy! He loved being a lil pumpkin :) I might end up in the sailor look. Maybe . . . I hope yall enjoy the rest of the weekend! I'll be catching up on blogs tomorrow btw!

Yesterday was an odd day for me. I questioned my happiness (ugh . . . life) and didn't feel like rocking bright color's. If I haven't told yall already I change my look twice a day. My 'Closet'

So 'moving' went well. Still in the same house with the same roommates, just moved into a different part of the house. It wasn't too major, but man I came to the conclusion that I own way too much for one person. A shopping ban might be in order soon. Problem is I love thrifting! It's such a great way to get get my shopping fix without drying out my bank account.

Anyway here are some pics of my 'closet'. My clothes actually take up half of my room so closet isn't the right word. And the opening for my closet is so small there's no point in taking a picture of it since you can't see what's inside (jeans, pants and blazer's). There's actually acouple thing's I'm not taking pics of because they still need to be folded and put away. So I guess this is just a peek at my stuff.

When organizing my clothes I decided to sort everything by color. So all top's and cardigan's in solid color's were paired together.

My plaid, lace, argyle and striped top's are also stacked together. Still working on the floral and graphic print item's.

Hi everyone. I woke up 2 hours ago and today is already sucking. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Here's a quick look at my outfit, which is part of Melissa's Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness challenge, for today with a peak at my closet.

I really love this dress and wanted to make it casual enough for work and think the cardi did the trick. I'm in the process of moving into a new place so a closet post will come soon once I'm settled.

TIME:

I put this look together in acouple minutes. Lorena asked me in a post "how long does it take me to get ready?" It depends, but I spend no more than 40 mins putting an outfit together when I have to work. I usually have some kinda idea of the look I want to go for the night before, so I wake up with that idea and shift through my clothes. Sometimes that changes and I can spend what seems like forever trying to figure out what to wear.

Fitness Blab:

My body hurts! In a great way though :) My friend came back for more torture yesterday and I provided it. She's not used to having a sore upper body so I really worked out her (and my own) lower body. Weighted squats with a plate raise, lunges, kickbacks, jumping jacks, crunches, squat holds and interval's on the treadmill was the workout. I made my 4 liter water mark yesterday! Go me! With all my meal's on. Gonna tackle it all over again today. That might make me feel better.

Kalifornia With A Touch Of Pink

Yesterday I came so close to coloring my hair light brown and cutting it shorter than it already is. For some reason I've been itching to do that for awhile, but due to past experiences I know better. YET . . . I almost did today! Before I gave my thoughts of madness life I watched the movie Kalifornia and immediately fell in love with everything (except for her smoking and drinking, I don't do either) about the character Carrie Laughlin (who was played by Michelle Forbes, who was Maryann in True Blood :) I especially loved her hair! Then my roommate pointed out that I have the similar hairstyle to hers. Gasp! For some odd reason seeing that made me love my cut and natural color and shaked me of my earlier thoughts! So I straightened out the kinks that occurred from my workout earlier in the day and went to the black section of my closet. I then was reminded that I'm suppose to be wearing pink this week for Melissa's Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness challenge. After pondering I decided to add a cardi that has gone unworn for quite some time to my outfit.

A friend of mine came over for a training session with me. It was great to have someone to work along side of. She said this might be a once a week thing! I also have a teacher at the school I work at keeping me accountable and vice versa with nutrition and exercising. Yesterday I was on with all but one of my meal's and had 3 liter's of h2o. Gotta do better today! Missing meals affects recovery and I'm trying to gain muscle not lose it! Must hit the 4 liter mark. Push ups, bicep curls, bench press, bicycle's, bridge's, weighted squats and interval's on the treadmill was my workout yesterday. Sore, but pumped this morning! Can't wait to hit the weights in a few hours!

My Weekend

Here is my weekend in photo's. It was pretty laid back, but I decided to not be completely lazy today and have started organizing my clothes. I'm actually taking a break from it right now because I don't know why in the world I would take on such a project on a Sunday night!! Oh well I'm gonna get it done and will be happy once I can find things with ease. On to what I did!

Saturday: I ended up hanging out at a friend's house after hitting the mall. I couldn't resist wearing that awesome teal skirt I wore the day before.

I was really into stripes yesterday and for dinner with one of my other buddies I changed into this-

I'll post a full pic of the outfit when I get around to taking one. If you can kinda see the skirt it's the teal one from F21 but in gray :) That was the whole reason for the trip to the mall :)

Sunday (today): My bud snapped a pic of me driving to work. I'm not really a smiling driver. I decided to rock pink today since this is breast cancer awareness month and I'm feeling out of my blog buddies loop. Melissa started the challenge on her blog. I'm not sure how long I can commit to wearing pink, but I'm going to give it a try.
After work we went to Cold Stone for ice cream (aka my cheat treat for the week) and I had some pics taken because I'm a dork.

Impulse Purchase

Oh how I loved yesterday! It was a very good day for me! I found out that I am accepted to the college I wanted to transfer to and all of my financial aid is already in place (which can be a huge headache if your not on top of it), work wasn't stressful at all and the nannying gig I had after my regular job ended up paying way more than I asked for! Today I don't have any real plans apart from working out and watching the movie Zombieland for the 10th (for real) time. So we'll see what it brings. I might hit the ice rink!

Finally a skirt! Lol! I picked this skirt and top (which is really a skirt) up at Forever 21 the other day. Yes they were impulse purchases! My closet has a nice amount of teal items, but didn't have a perfect teal skirt like this! Besides it was only $16 and the skirt (top) was $8. I actually found out that the top I'm wearing is a skirt from a sales associate at the store. I tried it on and she said I was wearing it the wrong way. I told her there isn't a wrong way to really wear something. Anyway I'm trying to build up my collection of graphic print tops so this was a happy and cheap addition to my closet. But first here is my work outfit from yesterday! I finally have my bangs out! I really missed rocking them! I decided to build my outfit around one of my Old Navy tops that I bought this past weekend. I love the color of the top and think I might head back for the other one. And yes I'm wearing white pants again. Odd how I haven't worn a skirt or dress at all this week. That will change tomorrow though. I miss showing my legs. Anyhoo this look made me want to go horseback riding real bad!

1. Do you allow comments on your blog? Why or why not?
I allow comments on my blog because that's the whole reason I started blogging. I love hearing what other's think about my looks.

2. Do you think people who leave comments that are insincere or notwell-thought out? What's the point?
I don't like when you can tell someone is just commenting (or throwing something up) just to get more traffic to their blog through yours. I have not posted acouple comment's due to that.

3. Would you ever leave a comment that could be considered negative?
Yes, but I'd try my best to think out what I'm typing before I put it down so it isn't taken negatively. The written word is harder to understand than standing face to face with someone and taking in their tone so you get the right meaning behind what they're saying. But even then that can be taken the wrong way.

4. Most people claim to like constructive criticism. Do you really and how do you offer that kind of criticism to others?
Unless someone is asking for it I don't give it. You never know how someone is going to take it. Personally I do mind, but I'm open to all thought's on what I wear and my fitness goals.

5. Some bloggers don't allow comments in order to cut down on negativity. Do you think that is the way to go or are there other ways to deal with the negative vibes?
I say do whatever works for you. I won't stop my reader's comments from coming in though. It fuels my need to post everyday :)

Fossil and Fitness

I came across this pic I tucked away from a Fossil catalog yesterday. I was searching for outfit inspiration and knew I wanted something to wear with a white pant. One glance at this pic and I immediately thought of two of my new wardrobe additions that could help me achieve a similar look.
Here is my version that I wore to work:

Cardigan: Old Navy

Shirt: Old Navy

Pants: Banana Republic

I received alot of feedback, verbal and nonverbal from people at my school and job on the white pants. It was whatever. I was comfortable, felt stylish and I felt good standing out in pants for once. Sooooo my blog buddy Lorena put up some questions that she answered so we can get to know her better and encouraged us to answer them as well. Because I have a tendency to 'talk' too much on my blog I'm going to just answer 1 question a day.

1. What is your favorite item of clothing? A dress because even alone it can be a great outfit!

Fitness Blab:

My workout yesterday went great! I ended up stopping my bench at 50 lbs since I couldn't clean my 3rd set past 4 reps. And I wasn't going to half a** it with bad form so I just stopped. In addition to that I did pull ups (some assisted), push ups and bicep curls. I didn't really feel a burn until I went to bed last night. And omg this morning my body is screaming at me. I love that sore feeling though. My intervals for cardio were pretty hard, 1:1= 1 min jogging at 4 mph and 1 min running at 8. Did that for 20 mins. I was suppose to do steady state, but I think I just had alot of enegry to get out and did that instead. I think I'll do cardio after weight training to 'stretch' everything out from now on. I was 'on' with my meals too!

Cardio: Off, but will probably do 15 mins of intervals since it's leg day

Clean Eating (1800 cals): All my meals (4 meals, 2 snacks (example of one of my snacks is 4 oz tuna and 3.5 oz of a red apple) are prepped for the day!

H2O: 4 liters is the goal
Weight Training: Leg and abs day, yeah! Weighted squats, leg press, lunges, etc.
Motivation: Still super high!

Long Lost Love

Not too bad. Plus I'm finally wearing some stripes! Not one of my recent purchases, but one of my long lost closet loves.

Fitness Blab:

Speaking of long lost loves I'm jumping back on the fitness wagon yall! I'm going pretty hard core with it seeing that I've been doing the bare minimum lately to stay in shape, granted I still have gained 10 lbs. Tennis games here and there, ice skating acouple times a week, lifting while I do laundry and running 5 miles every couple of days isn't sitting well with me anymore. Maybe it's because I miss seeing my abs or that I'm now forced to cover up to stay warm which comes the thought of "hey I can gain a few more extra pounds and no one will know for a few months". Well I'm not going to let that happen! I'm going to regain my hot body status so I'll be ready before next spring/summer rolls around. Plus there is a fitness show I want to attend in March of next year and I'll make that my reward for reaching my goals. I just really miss pushing myself physically and getting all my stress out with a 60 lb bench press, which will hopefully go up with some hard work. So at the bottom of each post I'll be mentioning how my day went cardio, weight lifting and clean eating wise. Anyone else feeling the fitness nudge?

Today's Plan:

Cardio: 5 miles of steady state planned

Clean Eating (1800 cals): Meal 1 (spinach, egg whites, lean beef, oatmeal with water) already down, 5 more to go

H2O: 500 ml down

Weight Training: Need to revise an old lifting plan from one of my trainer's, will post later

Motivation: Through the roof!

I knew I wanted to look put together and just grabbed pieces out of my closet. I liked the outcome although it would have looked better if my bangs were out.

Vacay Photos

So here are some of my photos from my vacay with my ex boyfriend and our puppy. I have over 100 pics from this trip, but I had to limit myself to 24 for this post. Anyway I had a great time! Will it happen again . . . not sure. But we did talk about it. Our puppy was excited for us to be back together though! The house I picked out for us to stay in was amazing!! It was right off the river, acouple mins drive from Lake Michigan (which was awesome to hangout at and play with our puppy), it had a hot tub right outside of our bedroom which was great for jumping in to watch the sunrise and for winding down our days and more. I'm not spilling all the details, but overall it was a wonderful trip!

I hope everyone has a great day! I have a ton to do! Friday night I'll be catching up on blogs! I did miss you guys while I was away! Eric did a great job with helping me deal with my withdrawals :)

From Nursing To Accounting

I'm sorry everyone! I was suppose to do my vacay post today, but that isn't going to happen. Still getting myself back emotionally together (which lead to me shopping at Old Navy today, can't wait to show yall my haul :)) and on top of that I changed my school major today! I was doing Nursing and now I'm looking at Accounting. Crazy huh! Still trying to figure myself out! *Gone On Vacation! I Will Be Returning Comments When I Return!*

Here's my vacay clothes! It's actually quite organized, lol! I like to have everything spread out on my bed when I'm packing. It makes keeping count of what outfits I have and adding items so I can remix to create another look easier. So I have a total of 16 outfits. Not bad for my 8 days away! That doesn't include my ice skating outfit, swim suit, tennis outfit and workout clothes. I may need a bigger bag. :)

Didn't Go As Planned

Yesterday things didn't go as planned, but it was ok. Brunch was cancelled, which to be honest put me in a bad mood, then I couldn't figure out what to wear or add to my vacay clothes for this week, I got stuck in stop and go traffic going to meet up with a friend at the bead store and got some serious road rage. Once I was outta my car and started looking at all the pretty things in the store I began to cheer up. Plus my friend Lauren is a blast and she helped me shake off my moodiness. On top of that she surprised me with saying she's going to make me a necklace and a choker! I'm thrilled and can't wait to show yall once I have them in my hands! Lauren is a totally talented jewelry maker and has her own lil piece of the blog world here! After the bead store we decided to go thrifting since I've been wanting a mustard blazer and red blazer for the longest, but didn't want to buy one a full price. I scored and will spill on my finds later with pics! Following thrifting we picked up another buddy and went out to eat and saw Resident Evil 3D (it was not really what I expected). Our apple orchard visit ended up being cancelled due to rain :( Must plan for that another weekend now.

So I ended up wearing only one outfit yesterday, but it was comfortable and I was very happy with it for what we did do.

Purple, Green and Strawberries

Morning yall! Remember this purple BCBG dress from here . . . Well I decided to remix it with my green F21 jacket (also seen here) to make my outfit yesterday. I added a belt from Hollister and a Banana Republic necklace (worn as a bracelet). I loved this outfit so much that I didn't want to take it off when I got home last night! I'm going to have to wear this again soon!

Going to the apple orchard reminds me of when I went strawberry picking with my ex boyfriend (who wasn't my ex at the time), his sister and our friends last year in Connecticut. He actually surprised me with the plan (since I had never been before) and I decided I wanted to buy a dress . . . to pick strawberries in. That's how horrible I am yall! Well that's how I was . . . I've gotten alittle better. Anyhow I found a sweet pink halter style at an unique boutique and thought it was perfect! I haven't worn it since the trip so I'll post some pics to show yall and to remind myself of how awesome it was!

I'm always the 'overdressed' one and have come to terms with that. I just don't like blending in. Anyway I felt super pretty and our friends liked my 'Stepford look'!

1. When it comes to outfit posts on your own blog, be honest are they what you actually wore that day?
I post what I actually wear (even if it's boring or not trendy) and I'm usually a day behind in posting.

2. For a fashion blogger, working in a corporate environment can be tricky. How do you mesh your day job with your personal style choices?
Well my job let's be as creative I want, luckily! My boss is always complimenting me on my style and swears she's never seen me wear the same thing twice. I actually feel like I have an image to keep up at work.

3. When you get dressed in the morning, do you think what should I wear to work or what should I wear for the blog?
I think of what I should wear to work that will look good on my blog.

4. Do professionals you interact with ever make comments about your clothing choices?
Yes. I work at an elementary school and I get compliments from the staff, parents of the kiddos I teach and my co workers. It's nice to have my style noticed. When I first got hired the kids asked why I wore so many dresses and some thought I didn't own jeans. They actually get on me now when I don't dress nicely to work.

5. Some bloggers openly admit to wearing outfits only for the blog post. What's your opinion on that?
It's cool that they're being honest. I would.

When figuring out what to wear I was drawn to the basics in my closet. Dark denim, t-shirt's and blazer's. In no time I was able to pull a neat outfit together from those section's! I love when I can get dressed quickly.

It turned out to be really nice yesterday so I rocked a pair of shorts. Must enjoy it while I can. I'm not one for wearing shorts with tights, I'd rather just wear a skirt! I threw on a tuxedo jacket since areas of the school I work at tend to be too cool.

This weather has me alittle down so I decided to throw on one of my 'happy' dresses. I only have a handful of purple dresses in my closet and this is my favorite one. I paired it with a Guess cardigan, but will have to show yall a pic of that later. The only picture I have from this morning (since I was rushing) is the one I took with the principal of the school I work at after a meeting. Everyday we're complimenting one another on eachother's looks and today it hit me to grab a quick pic with her.

Morning yall! Here are a few of my overdue pics from my mini vacay to Saugatuck last month. Acouple of my co workers and I went and had a freaking blast!! We kayaked, ran, biked, saw a themed boat parade, checked out a beer tent, ate at cool restaurant's off the water, relaxed at Oval beach, swam in Lake Michigan, watched The Hangover while enjoying homemade shakes (there's a story behind that) at our rented condo, shopped at unique boutiques, took pics with random hotties and did other things I'd have to dig up my journal to recall. Don't have time for that though, must get to work!

That is an airbrushed tattoo for those wondering! We all got one and it said 'bad girl' with red lips above it. It was a cool group thing to do and lasted a few days. Sorry for the pics just being thrown up. There's no real order to them, but I hope yall enjoy seeing them anyway.

The Unexpected Ex Boyfriend

First off thank you guys for all the positive comments on my last post. I will keep blogging everyday and brush off the negative remarks. Reading everyone's kind word's just made my day! I wish I give yall a big hug!!!!!

Yesterday I was completely surprised! My ex boyfriend (we were together for 3 1/2 yrs straight and broke up in May of this yr) popped up and told me we were going to a friend's wedding that I decided I wasn't going to because I didn't have a date. He came all the way from Connecticut . . . he's so crazy, so I couldn't say no. Anyhow it really perked me up! So after my classes (I ditched ice skating) I went and got my hair trimmed (which was needed!) and got out my best end of summer blue dress. Blue is Eric's favorite color and I couldn't resist picking out a matching outfit for him to wear. Can you believe he said he misses me dressing him! Such a sweetie!

It was nice attending a wedding that had so many of our friend's present Even better because I wasn't alone! It brought up alot of emotions and some serious talking though.

Ok! I don't want to keep you guys in the dark anymore I have some news to share with yall! I'm going on another vacation . . . in 2 weeks . . . with my ex and our puppy. I know . . . who does that!!?? I was alittle on the fence, but after the wedding I'm so on board!! Anyhow I'm going to be sharing my overdue vacay pics from last month tomorrow. Must do it before this vacay rolls around. Gee I'm super excited to be getting away again!

Friend Friday: Copying in the Fashion Industry

I'm finally home!!! Here's my overdue Friend Friday post for yall.

1. Which side do you take… Copycat designs are a way for the average consumer to stay current and wear runway styles without breaking the bank OR Copy designs take business from the designer and cheapen the value of their work.

I'm for the copycat designs, but they have to have a twist on it. You shouldn't be able to look at an item and think "ohh that's . . ." when it isn't.

2. Sometimes we do things, even if they are unethical or illegal (downloading music for free, watching full movies on YouTube). Do you think it is unethical for a designer to copy a vintage piece, make it current and sell it?

I don't see it as unethical for a designer to copy a piece to make it current. As I said before, long as it has a spin on it.

3. Would you buy an items that is a very well done copy of a runway garment if it fell within your budget?

Maybe. I'm not big into wanting to own runway item's though.

4. According to the fashion laws, at least in the US, apparel design is seen as too utilitarian to qualify for copyright protection. Would you think this is detrimental to the industry or beneficial. (Check out this video on The Taxonomy of My Wardrobe to get a better idea of this concept http://taxonomyofmywardrobe.blogspot.com/2010/08/fashion-and-copyright-laws.html)

I think it's beneficial. It forces designers to really step outside their box and wow the fashion world.

Yesterday was a crazy day for me! I went to brunch, saw a movie, attended a bday party and had dinner at a Thai restaurant. TGIF! I'm so ready for my holiday weekend to begin! All I want to do is go window shopping and relax! I still have to work on Sunday, but it's no biggie since I have Monday off.

Yesterday morning I tried on 4 different outfits and I wasn't feeling any of them! I tried on two lace dresses, but I just didn't feel like lace. So I ended up going over to the dark side of my closet . . . which lead me to my black skirts and boom! After 20 minutes I finally figured out what I wanted to wear!

This top was originally apart of a whole BCBG jumpsuit, but I hate them (on me, not other's) so I cut the bottom portion off. I didn't plan on wearing head to toe BCBG, but I thought this artsy skirt went well with the top. I finished it off with a brown woven belt to make my look more casual and pick up the brown in my shoes.

Sorry for the dark pics and if my face looks really shiny! I just got home from work and I forced myself to take these before I got comfortable and lazy. Speaking of work yesterday a friend of mine asked if I based my outfit off of my hair and skin color. . . lol! I loved it and said "I'm just sporting black and brown all around." Does anyone else rock black and brown together?
